Red

I wanted to participate in this weeks You Capture but my camera was still in the shop.
But this weeks theme was Red and I got the perfect photos on our camera phone.

I live in Newcastle, Australia and we had a terrible dust storm that dumped lots of red dust all over us here.

We woke up to a very strange red glow and the view outside the windows was eerie. It looked like something out of a disaster movie.

The red light at dawn during the east coast of Australia's dust storm shot through a net curtain.

The view out of our front window. The red dust hung in the air for most of the day.
You couldn't see the houses over the other side of the soccer oval.

Another view of the window at dawn. The light was coming through the red dust.

The view out our back door. It was the worst dust storm I've ever seen. The light was really this red. Every thing was covered in it and it was in the air all day. It was gone 5pm before it cleared.

A zoomed out shot to show the colour isn't just coming from the camera.
This was slightly later in the day when the red had faded a bit to orangey-yellow.

An old rusty shopping trolley exposed at low tide in the Hunter River at Maitland.
